About Beyond the Barbell

“Beyond the Barbell” embodies the philosophy that exercise is much more than the physical, playing a vital role in mental and emotional health. As a mom, I understand the necessity of prioritizing self-care and carving out time for ourselves. My journey through struggles with food and body image in my teens and twenties has shaped my approach to health and fitness, focusing on sustainability and balance.

 

I provide personalized workout plans tailored to your unique needs and goals, ensuring you feel empowered and confident throughout your journey. Most importantly, I stress valuing your body for its capabilities and resilience rather than solely its appearance. I am dedicated to supporting you every step of the way as you work toward becoming the strongest, healthiest version of yourself!

Meet Izzy

Hi! My name is Izzy Gouvion. Since I can remember, movement was always something I enjoyed. I played soccer and did gymnastics from a young age and that evolved into me getting into yoga in my teens. I started my professional career in fitness as a yoga instructor in 2018 which later led me to explore my love for group fitness. I began coaching strength & conditioning classes in 2021 and never looked back. I realized quickly that I thrived helping people reach their goals and there was no better feeling than doing something that I loved. After coaching in a group setting for 3+ years, I started taking personal training clients and felt like I found my true calling. There was something special about being able to focus my attention solely on one person and to customize their workouts just for them.

 

At Beyond the Barbell, I’ve built a comfortable & private environment that you can come to and not have the intimidation you might feel in a normal gym setting. My goal is to always have you walk away from a session with me feeling confident, stronger than before, and most importantly- like you had fun!
